Our dialysis centre offers free treatment to patients with kidney disorders from poor backgrounds, conducting 600+ dialysis sessions monthly. Kashmir ATHROUT and Ayushman Bharat Yojna collaborated for our NGO’s state-of-art free dialysis centre. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is a national public health insurance scheme of the Government of India that aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low income earners in the country. Roughly, the bottom 50% of the country qualifies for this scheme.
Every year, around one lakh new cases of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) are diagnosed in Kashmir. A study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) says that out of one billion people, 7.8 million people or 150 cases per 1 million people have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Dialysis is a procedure in which the blood is filtered mechanically without the help of the kidneys. The main function of kidneys is to eliminate waste material from the blood and to maintain fluid balance in the body. If the kidneys are not functioning properly then Dialysis will take over the function of the failed kidneys.
Dialysis costs a good amount of money that patients belonging to lower economic strata cannot afford. In many cases, such patients end up losing their lives. Kashmir ATHROUT, witnessing the plight of such helpless ailing patients, initiated its thirteen bedded haemodialysis centre in 2018. We are currently catering to 65+ patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). We provide 600 + monthly dialysis to the registered patients. Our centre includes:
The centre features 15+ staff who caters to the CKD patients personally. Our staff includes nephrologist, general physician, Haemodialysis technicians, registered nurses, psychologist and a clinical dietician.
